Park(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that inspiures city dwellers everywhere to transform metere parking spots into temporary park for the public good.
architecture for Humanity Chicago transformed multiple parking spaces in Logan Square into a venue for public activity. The installation morphs asphalt into open space that invites visitors to relax and engage with other members of the community.
Materials used in this project are all recycled or donated. Approx. 40 pallets were used for construction. The entire structure is partially assembled and transported to site.
Our design is characterized by three aspects: Social, Spiritual, and Memory. The Meditation Tower is designed with an oculus, which visitors can enjoy the sky without the obstruction of any built environment.
